Discovering MamaDuke
So, I recently found myself wandering around Callaghan Campus and stumbled upon this cozy little spot called MamaDuke. Nestled within the Shortland Building at Newcastle Uni, it seemed like a perfect getaway for breakfast or a quick coffee fix.
Walking in, I was greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere and a buzz that felt just right for a casual catch-up. Seriously, the vibe there? Chef’s kiss! It’s a great place to meet friends or unwind solo with a book. The decor—let’s just say, it’s comfy enough that you might want to linger a bit longer than planned.
Now, I’ve heard some mixed reviews about the coffee. Sure, it could be a little hit-or-miss; I mean, the place has its quirks. One friend raved about the chai latte as if it were liquid gold, while others mentioned the coffee could use some pep.
But let’s talk food—oh man, those salmon sandwiches and Buffalo wings? Well, let’s just say they might’ve changed my perspective on campus dining. And if you’re in a hurry, they do takeaway, which is cool for those on the go.
I’d recommend checking this place out. Just keep your expectations in check about the coffee, but the food and atmosphere? Absolutely worth it! Plus, they’re open every day except Sunday, which is a bonus for early risers like me.
